Jan Joyce-Cleveland of the Newburyport Joyce-Clevelands, is the third child of Nathan Joyce-Cleveland. While her father is abroad, she hired Thomas Fell to organize an expeditionary team. When the men hired to plan the expedition with Thomas never reported, Jan began to worry. Not yet willing to declare Thomas missing (for her own reasons), Joyce-Cleveland called Knox Makepeace, who Thomas had considered bringing into the expeditionary team.
