Thomas Fell's House
The house has not been lived in for several days. There is a large dead tree from the basement through the kitchen into the upstairs.
Living room has many artifacts. Most of them are various types of steles, containers, and statues. Seemed to be grouped by symbols engraved on them not by their region/ancestry.
Marriette finds his camera. Is new, a week or so old. On a stack of photos. Examining photos shows a rocky location resembling the stones by the tree. Can make out trees like one in kitchen in photos-most dead. A few with tall obelisk with strange glyphs. Posed photo, all with grins. Recognize Thomas Fell and 2 non-descript white men, and a tall man with “serious” mustache, and an Asian man. In background, can see tree and rocks, this picture was taken in house that we are in. Likely developed about 2 days ago, Camera about 5 days old. Photos taken w/in last week.
Secret closet next to fireplace mantel in the upstairs study. Stuffy, dusty. But different dust from tree. Wall on left exposed wood, right is chimney. Small light bulb. Handful of books. Small roll-top desk with 5-6 books. Rare occult texts-questionable academic repute – not recognized. E.g. The Crimson Chronicles, the Elt Down Papers. The Book of Pooh. Most interesting find, Thomas Fell’s diary. Has photographs, info on past things he has done-not directly relevant. Talks about Joyce Cleaveland. Stele (standing stone) from her has some Meso-American. Expedition-short list Makepeace’s name is crossed out. “Best not to have Knox [Makepeace] along on initial find, can bring him in later.”
Notes on team: Greuber-specializes on Incan architecture. Poor English Jules-French Canadian travel expert. Many contacts in South America. Can get through w/o gov interference Asian-Wu Han. Works cheap, mountaineer. Works for shot at Andes. Kellerman-American game hunter, outdoorsman. Mustache. “Cowboy”? Strange note in journal-looks like we won’t need plane tickets after all. Seamus-ledger. Find he has tapped into savings, plane tickets, expedition gear, and converted a little over $2,000 to different currencies for South America. Looking around, found folder with plane tickets (5 sets) Ecuador, Chile, Peru. Start of trip in about 1 week. Thomas Fell, Franko Greuber, Jules Farconsome, Wu Han, James Kellerman.
Basement-Found stone egglike in shape-with raised wart-like raised areas on it. It is in a birdcage suspended in the middle of the room. It seems heavy but perhaps hollow or a container. Larger standing stone in a second opening that was sent by Joyce-Cleavland-carved. Toltec like writing-like Incan but not actually Incan. Is directly under tree. Red arc of light jumps out of stone to Jan, brilliant white flash. When we can see again, see vine black soil, she is no longer there. Seconds later, it hits Matthew, then all of us one by one. Instant transport to a kitchen, is warm. May be remnants of Fell’s kitchen.
Find that sun is now a bit higher. Looks like we are in clearing, rocks, strange trees all over. Light mist. Is like we are in 25-30 arroyo/canyon. Air is thin, even though air is warm. Overstuffed mattress, was on top of an obelisk, shoved. We are in same place as photos. Dresser smashed on ground, clothes all over ground. And of course, there is also the body… Crumpled, bloody, face is shocked and in pain. Is one of nondescript white men-Jules F. Very bloody along his back, due to multiple stab wounds from a folding utility knife. Also a blood trail leading from “kitchen” area into one of the canyonways. Looks like lots of footprints all over. 2 trails of interest. 2 people-blood trail. 2 others-different passageway. We are in mountainous region, strange that it is warm…We are now on the Otherside of the Stone Warp.
