L'ouverture de la Voie/The Pathway Opens is an oversized unlined journal of blackened leather binding, filled with handwritten notes in two columns: the left in French, the right in English. At some point, the book was in a location that caught fire -- there are scorch marks on the front cover and the upper right corner of the book's pages have been burnt away.

The text is a detailed recounting of a series of troubled dreams that four brothers of the Etienne family had in 1823. All four were nearly identical, with slight variations in each story. The dreams are bizarre and fanciful, with the dreamer shown the advent of the return of the Great Old Ones and what will follow.

Skimming the book takes about seven hours and provides 1 dedicated pool point for Occult and 1 dedicated pool point for questions about Yog-Sothoth or the nature of time.
